Program Philosophy:

NSCC is a play-based centre where children are seen as competent individuals with their own ideas and interests.

NSCC believes that children have a desire to grow and learn and explore and construct knowledge about the world around them.

NSCC strives to create a safe and nurturing environment that ensures the health and well-being of all children in our care.

Children are provided with an atmosphere that makes them feel welcome and accepted.  Our environment offers experiences

and challenges where children can freely explore and experiment.  It is stimulating and provoking, yet developmentally appropriate.

It provides children with opportunities to form relationships with materials, objects, and people.  NSCC is passionate

about providing learning materials that are natural, unique and limitless in their possibility. These materials permit children to

be endless in their learning, creating and theorizing.  Our environment is diverse and reflects the children’s home, culture, and beliefs.

Teachers at NSCC encourage and facilitate learning and create safe and trusting relationships with the children.

The teachers work hard to provide exciting learning opportunities for children based on their developmental level and their interests.

Families play an important role in the make-up of NSCC.  Families are seen as active members of the environment and are

invited to participate in the children’s learning.
