We would like to thank the Coast Salish people, specifically the Skwxwú7mesh Nation and Tsleil-Waututh Nation, whose unceded traditional territory the North Shore Child Care Centre resides on. We value the opportunity to learn, share and grow on this traditional territory.

NORTH SHORE CHILD CARE CENTRE (NSCC) is a hands-on, play-based centre inspired by an inquiry based philosophy of learning and the outdoor environment. We believe that children are capable, unique individuals with their own ideas and interests and they have a desire to grow and learn, and to explore and construct knowledge about the world around them. NSCC works to promote healthy development in children by fostering pro-social behaviour, self-esteem, and self-confidence.

 

Our learning environment provides children with a variety of daily indoor and outdoor experiences and inquiries that reflect the interests of the children and adapt as the interests of the children change. NSCC provides children with opportunities to form relationships with materials, objects, and people and teaches children how to be responsible members of the community. NSCC strives to produce a learning environment where children are encouraged to explore, experiment, and enjoy the activities and experiences offered to them in a free and open manner.
